A few years ago a group of people came together to start a church called Red Sea Northeast in inner-city Portland. It wasn\'t long before they realized that they had no music to sing together. Most of the worship music that was available was either too \"churchy\" or too \"rocky\" for their community. So, for the first year, Red Sea NE did not do any music at all.

After a year of having no music to sing some people at Red Sea devised a simple solution: they could create their own music by re-arranging contemporary worship songs and traditional hymns in an urban/R&B style. To do this they enlisted the help of HR Crump (Beyonce, Kelly Price), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams, Blackstreet), Brandon Woods (Regina Belle), Nehemiah (Braille), and others.

Out of this process IN RESPONSE was born. Together, these 8 vocalists aim to create music that is both theologically accurate and culturally relevant to the hip-hop generation.
