Chicago-based Into the Green combines the talents of singer/songwriter Paul Oakley Stovall and keyboardist/songwriter Steve Goers to create a truly modern pop sound.
"Ghettos and Oceans" sums up the album's message and flavor - one of hope and beauty amid the despair and confusion of modern-day life. Paul's intimate urban-poetic lyrics and soulful voice (featured in the national tour of "Rent") take the listener on a thought-provoking journey through the world.
The music is anchored by Steve's lush piano accompaniment and a vast pallette of both synthesized soundscapes and live instruments. It freely mixes jazz, world, techno and rock elements in a lyrical pop format to create a unique musical experience.
"Ghettos and Oceans" features the musical talents of Pat Metheny bassist Steve Rodby (who produced five of the tracks), Styx drummer Todd Sucherman, Columbia/Windham Hill keyboardist Fred Simon, and a host of Chicago's finest session players.
"Into the Green" was recently featured in JazzIz magazine as part of the "Best Vocalists You've Never Heard Of", and was included on the premiere CD of Music.com Magazine.

Urban jazz at its best

Know how you tire of some CDs after a couple of listens? This isn't one of those CDs. The more I listen to it, the more I enjoy it. I first heard "Citizen of the World" on a compilation CD several years ago and had to find out more about Into The Green. Here it is, only January (as I write this) and I already know that it'll be the one Christmas gift that I'll be buying for everyone on my list!

A Jazz/Funk hybrid that is sure to get you in the mood...

If you have ever wanted a soulful mix of New Age music with a Sade like sound, all wrapped in one album, then Ghettos and Oceans is for you. I have been a fan of this CD for nearly 3 years now, and the music is just as inspirational as the first time I heard it. It is nice to have music with a substance. The vocal sounds of Paul Oakley Stovall are a melodic God-send, and his inspiring lyrics on such songs as Lucky and Ghettos and Oceans makes you remember how lucky we are to live and breathe in this world. This CD is great to just kick back and relax too, make you think about the world, or it might even help you get freaky with that special someone.

Takes you into yourself and rebirths you anew into the World of Spirit and Unity
author: Robert O'hotto
This CD is one of the best that I own. Each song speaks to the humanitarian in all of us and connects you to the Spirit of life. It's a journey into yourself that ultimately connects you to everyone else. The vocals are rich with lots of depth that can only be matched by the evocative musical arrangements. This CD is a must for anyone who likes Seal or music that can take you higher!!
