INTROVERSION:
...an exalted state of introspection.

MY ARCADIAN ADVENTURE INTO MAGICAL SOUND

My music is a reflection of the mystical side of my personality.
This music is an artistic expression of my lifelong interest in the occult - alchemy, tarot, kabala, Gnostic Christianity, the Knights Templar, and Hermetic, Rosicrucian thought.

An important milestone in the formation of my Weltanschauung (world view) comes from the discovery of a journal called Dagoberts Revenge and from the subsequent correspondence with the editor, writer, researcher and Exalted Grand Master of the Ordo Lapsit Exillis - Tracy Twyman.
Her research into the mysteries of the Holy Grail, Merovingian bloodline and the mystical aspects of southern France led me toward the current path of study which I have been engaged in for the past several years.
She refers to this research and line of thought as - the Arcadian Mystique, or the Underground Stream. I see my music as part of this continuum.
These are some of the ideas that influenced my way of thinking which led to the formation of my "sound".

In 2001 I discovered and was inspired by an esoteric musical movement that happened in Germany during the early 1970's. Sometimes referred to as "Krautrock"- or for me the more suitable "German Cosmic Music"- which I would describe as an unusual blend of mysticism and electronics characterized by the work of Amon Duul2, Klaus Shulze, Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk to name just a few.
Inspired by what I heard I began to collect as much of the music as I could find.
This led to the creation of an independent internet radio program called Made In Germany which - thanks to the web - became a modest, underground, international success. As a result, I came to love this unusual musical style and developed a deeper understanding of its complexity and nuance.
This too influenced my sound.

Finally, my wife - a fellow artist and I enjoy traveling to mystical and eerie places.
Highlights from these trips have been...
Bornholm - a mysterious island in the Baltic Sea.
Rosslyn Chapel - the templar church in Scotland - featured in the Dan Brown novel - The Da Vinci Code.
In Italy we visited the unusual Park of Monsters and Tivoli gardens - immortalized in the Kenneth Anger film Eau de Artifice.
And finally - the Holy Grail of esoteric places - southern France and the village of Rennes le Chateau, Cathar country and land of a million mysteries.
I recorded some of my best music in these inspirational locales.
I also bring a DAT recorder with me when I travel so that I may record the local sounds and atmosphere of these environments. These songs and sounds can be found on my c.d.s.

These are at least the basic main ingredients that went into the creation of the Introversion sound. Many others deserve credit.
In conclusion, I believe that those who are able to enjoy the pristine beauty of Solitude will find resonance with the music of Introversion.

Great Stuff!
author: Big John
I found out about this CD because it is by the drummer of another band I like (Sky Cries Mary), and bought it because the sound samples sounded interesting. It's great stuff! Listen to the samples, and if you like them, buy the album because the "missing pieces" really fill it out!
