Album Notes

When you meet Christopher Jon, it is not a stretch of the imagination to see that this is the man behind I, Parasite, one of electronic music's most unapologetic bands in recent years. After two releases on an independent label (1999's debut "Turin" and 2000's remix maxi-CD "Horseslayer"), Christopher broke away to do things his way, forming Dark Vision Media to release I, Parasite's latest epic, On This Cold Floor, which has received critical acclaim from around the world, and has been featured heavily on MTV's The Real World and Road Rules.

On This Cold Floor is a heavily conceptual piece, with 15 of the rawest and most brutally honest tracks I, Parasite has offered yet. Moody electronic atmospheres meld with vicious beats, mangled synth noise, digitized guitars and Christopher's raw, emotionally charged vocals.

Also included is an enhanced portion with photos, lyrics and an in-depth view of the creative process behind the album. All of this is accompanied by a full color twelve page booklet, and a beautifully designed CD sleeve.

Spend an hour in the head of the faceless man.

*****
"On This Cold Floor is I, Parasite's most evolved offering, as layered electronics, well placed guitars, and pained vocals come together on the band's most introspective and emotional release to date. (9/10)" - Outburn Magazine (USA)

"Deepest sound-ravines, sometimes melancholic and with fragile acoustic guitar, sometimes groovy and crashing, sometimes exploding like an erupting volcano - it's an emotionally touching roller-coaster ride between aggressive moments and pure hopelessness. When you listen to this music, you surely feel here's a roughly similar spirit like in Trent [Reznor]'s NIN, but when you consider everything more exactly, you'll discover right away that I, Parasite has got a more than individual character. This is an exciting album far away from the ordinary. Goose-flesh guaranteed!" - Zillo MusikMagazin (Germany)

"I have known the name of I, Parasite for years, but I've never really had the opportunity to hear his music. Now it's done, and it's a really good surprise, I really appreciate. Even if we didn't take care of the words, we can easily feel the pain and sorrow. ... A very diversified album with multiple facets bathed in a strange atmosphere. Uplifting. (PF: 7/8 TSF: 8)" - Side-Line Magazine (Belgium)

""On The Cold Floor" [is I, Parasite's] third and simultaneously most extraordinary album. ... Fans of this genre can detect new details everytime they listen to "On This Cold Floor" and therefore have a long lasting joy with this album. (7.6/10 - average of 10 reviewers)" - Sonic Seducer (Germany)
Also selected as album of the month in the 11/4/03 issue

"In an inventive and original way I, Parasite deals with electro, industrial, rock, ambient, noise and idm and comes up with very modern and innovative form of industrial music." - Funprox (Netherlands)

"...not to mention, the production quality is super. This is evident right away on the album opener "COLD FLOOR", and the style continues throughout. ON THIS COLD FLOOR [is] a splendid display of Industrial angst coupled with sorrowed regret." - Black Sheep (USA)

""On This Cold Floor" is a musical menagerie of the electronic and the acoustic, all textured brilliantly with Jon's subtle, almost soothing at times, voice. The subject matter here is fairly dark and contemplative throughout and you can tell that a lot of thought went into this record. ...if you like to listen to music that will give you something new in each listen then "On This Cold Floor" is meant for your CD collection." - 1340 Magazine (USA)

"With this record I, Parasite should be able to reach a broader audience than it has up till now. Due to the variety on this album of harsh, dark, quite a few more accessible songs On This Cold Floor is a great album, and one that should not be missed out on by the alternative scene in general." - GRUIS (Netherlands)

Industrial Chaos Ochastrated for the Age Of Extremity
author: Martyr666
In the Turgid Swell of the new Mellenium Spawned from the UnderGround in America Hails a new hope in Real Music By The Name of I-parasite , What better soundtrack to listen & absorb in the Chaos after september 11th. The Talents and Artistic Formula from Christophers music is refreshing in an industry most into looks and sales of cloned and copy cat genres, On This Cold Floor is a mile stone in not just I-Parasite history but in the Dark wave/Ambient Industrial genre. If you are looking for the most Raw and Honest i Suggest you buy I-Parasites On This Cold Floor and invest in the other albums I-Parasite have to offer.

All I can say is that these guys are absolute best at what they do. I know there a lot of people claiming they're industrial, where they sound more like a rave song. This is the real deal.

life without 'on this cold floor'?
author: nobody_important
i cannot stress enough how much this CD rocks. when i bought OTCF i knew it would be good, i just didnt know HOW good. i have listened to this album 8 times now, and i feel like i have only just begun to scratch the surface. this is a phenominal release. from the beautifully done packaging to the pure audial bliss. this is a gigantic leap into musical maturity for i parasite, as he sheds off the stale EBM/dark electro label for something completely fresh and new. the album starts off with the surprising 'cold floor' and continues unrelentlessly till the very last second of 'purge this facade.' one of the things that really catches me about this album is that there are NO BAD SONGS. the entire album is flawlessly layed out, as each song appropriately fades into the next. there is not one skippable song on this disk, i was thinking about naming favourites, but the more i hear the album, the more i love every song. i have not seen any other reviews for this album, but i would be horribly surprised to see anyone negatively rate this. this album is good enough to give mainstream a run for its money, and i sincerely hope it does.
