Album Notes

Ishai's Story has been making music through different incarnations in and around New England for over three years. After performing under the name Tomorrow's Compost, Joshua Eden (gutiarist, vocalist) and Patrick Johnson (bassist, percussionist) hooked up with Herb Clarke (drummer) and Jim Terry (electric guitarist and audio super genius) to record this completely homegrown, self-titled debut CD.

The 12 tracks on Ishai's Story reflect the diverse backgrounds of the various musicians involved, from soul to reggae to folk with splashes of jazz, hip-hop, Indian classical, and blues, creating an eclectic, groove-oriented sound. The political, poetic lyrics and the emotional intensity of the musicians captivate and inspire the listener. The music conveys a sense of freedom, of awakening to an expanded reality filled with images of love, personal emancipation, compassion, rebirth and awe.

"Ishai's Story's views have more hard-edged realism to them than one would expect and their commitment to putting politics in the forefront is refreshing...Ishai's Story acheives a level of intimacy and beauty that is rare in any genre today...there are hundreds of jam bands out there but Ishai's Story is already better than most." -Casco Bay Weekly, 12/7/00

I have just purchased a new stereo system from Ascend Acoustics, HSU subwoofers, and Panny XR57. Listening to all my jazz, rock and classical music, this cd stands alone with Coldplay as the best sounding, best recorded and most emotional on my equipment. The band is tight and full, and the music is both modern and relavant. Check it out!
