Album Notes

The Island Fever Band performs an interesting musical mixture of "Jimmy Buffett", reggae and original songs all wrapped up in a party atmosphere. Their debut album, "Sweet Pontchartrain" is a fun and lively array of all original music founded in the "island" sounds of Buffett.

The band is considered by many in the Gulf Coast region to be the premier beach party band. The Island Fever Band has opened for famous performers such as The Beach Boys and often finds itself as the headliner at events of fun loving individuals such as "Phlockstock" on Bourbon Street in New Orleans and "That One Particular Harbor" aboard the world's largest party barge at Marina Del Ray in Madisonville, Louisiana. Other performances at Parrothead phlockings include "The Meeting of the Mindless" in the New Orleans French Quarter and "A Parrothead Weekend" at Rosie O'Grady's at Seville Quarters in Pensacola, Florida.

It was aboard a yacht on Lake Pontchartrain that Bert Toms, the band's co-founder, lead guitar player and songwriter got inspiration to write the beautiful ballad and CD title cut "Sweet Pontchartrain". Amid other upbeat and fun songs like "Rum Lag", "The Ghost of the Titanic" (you'll love this one), "A Girl Like You", "Better Than Buffett" and "There Ain't No Kokomo" you'll find another great ballad entitled "The Old Man of the Sea" (remember "that troubadour's dad was this old sailors son" - the listener is challenged to figure out about whom the writer is speaking).

So, if you're unable to attend one of the their upcoming performances, you can bring The Island Fever Band to you with a purchase of "Sweet Pontchartrain". Remember, after you've heard the songs the first time, every other time you listen to them they're free. And also, remember our MOTTO: "The more you drink, the better we sound". So, fire up that blender, put on your wildest swim suit, apply plenty of sunscreen and party with The Island Fever Band on the shores of "Sweet Pontchartrain".

REVIEWS

Excellent, a classic, these guys have it all with chips.

Being from south Louisiana and being a Buffet fan, these guys have combined all of the sounds. To me Ghost of the Titanic rivals Let's Get Drunk and Screw. Sweet Pontchatrain, is second only to a local classic called New Orleans Lady. It would take a combination of several artists recordings to compare to the emotions created by satire and good time feeling received from listening to this CD.
