Album Notes

Between Stations is the debut from one of Chicago's more inventive singer songwriters. Recorded by former Coctail Barry Phipps and wunderkind Ryan Neuschaffer at North Branch Studio in a matter of days, it captures the energy and versatility of Istvan's newly formed trio.

Consisting of drummer/percussionist Ryan Murphy (M.O.T.O., VeeDee, J. Davis Trio) and Diane Lena former organist of Bobby Conn protege's Missing Tooth, the group does an amazing job of bringing these songs to life while still maintaining their original guitar - voice - drum machine intention.

In the spirit of pop music originals like Paul Williams, Brian Eno, Donovan, Iggy Pop or Marc Bolan Istvan combines a classic sensibility to an unpredictable modern approach. His songs can be sweet and serious or downright infantile, and sometimes they happily fall somewhere in between.

The cover art titled Birds on the Radio is an original piece by Milwaukee artist Tom Stack created specifically for the Between Stations sessions.
