notes
Webster's definition of "Ivory Tower" is: a figurative place of mental withdrawal from reality. The phrase is used as a symbol of escapism.
Independent recording artists: Ivory Tower Project is a new breed of 'old school' rockers. Music for those who love the sound of New Classic Rock and Power Pop. Ivory Tower Project (ITP) was founded by NY veteran songwriters: Johnny Jace and Mark Regula.
NYC guitarist: Tony Novarro was soon recruited, thus Novarro and Regula formed the core of ITP. As band members left, they were replaced by the NY Metro area's finest studio musicians that transcended Ivory Tower from being a band into a Project.
Featured Studio Musicians:
Richie Cannata: sax - (formerly with BILLY JOEL)
Ivan Elias: bass - (formerly with PATTY SMYTH & SCANDAL)
ITP signed with Guerrilla Records and released a four-song EP entitled: "Red Hot," which was released internationally. The signature single from the EP: "Burning" charted #1 on MP3Songs.com: Adult Contemporary Rock Chart for both the USA and later in England. "Red Hot" has received rave reviews and airplay on over 300 radio stations in 27 countries worldwide. ITP received the 2005 Gold Artist Award from internet stations: Radio Gets Wild in England and RadioIndy.com in the US.

Red Hot is high quality original Classic Rock music that stands the test of time
author: BandsBackStage.comIndie rock band: Ivory Tower Project (AKA I.T.P.) may not sound familiar to a lot of music fans but just turn to any local college station throughout the country and you will hear one or more tracks from the groups breakthrough EP "Red Hot." Though I.T.P.s music isn't for everybody, fans of artists like Foreigner, Everclear, Styx, Arc Angel, Genesis & SuperTramp will no doubt request to hear them again and again. I.T.P.s first single "My Name" is an in-your-face rocker with a big sound, featuring heavy guitars, screaming synthesizers and explosive drumming. The second track "Burning" has a seductive funky vibe that builds up to a climatic hook (ALA David Bowie - Let's Dance era), infectious from start to finish. Followed by "Gotcha'", a dance rock song with all the bells & whistles (reminiscent of Fly Like An Eagle - Steve Miller). And finishes with "Way Too Late", chugging along like a freight train out of control. The songs are well written and performed. The recordings are clean and the production is nothing short of classy. "Red Hot" is simply following in the footsteps of legendary recording artists who came before them. Carrying on the tradition of releasing high quality original Classic Rock music that stand the test of time...
For people who prefer to listen to the glory days of Classic Rock...
author: Lutz Schneider - "LRS Show" Ems-Vechte-Welle [Lingen, Germany]"Red Hot" from Ivory Tower Project makes you walk down memory lane and leads you back to the glory days of 80's AOR and Melodic Classic Rock. People who prefer to listen to the unforgettable music of bands like Asia, Genesis or Survivor might face a time warp which will make them wish for more. This 4 song EP joins the good tradition of using synthesizers, keyboards, saxophone and guitars in a way that caresses your soul. Just put on this CD for a long car ride and enjoy the relaxing and magical atmosphere which was created by that perfect combination of all these instruments and the distinguished voice of Mark Regula.
For those who enjoy a little retro splash...
author: Indie-Music.comBlasting straight out of the past, Ivory Tower Project's four song EP,"Red Hot", unabashedly seeks to revive the pop/rock supergroup sound of the early 1980's. From the insistent keyboards on the opener "My Name", which calls to mind 70's/80's supergroup Yes, to the galloping guitars on the final track "Way Too Late", reminiscent of Heart's Barracuda, I.T.P. captures the sound of a bygone era in rock and roll. To anyone who grew up playing vinyl records of Supertramp, Foreigner, Styx or any of the other polished pop/rock masters of the era, I.T.P. will immediately bring back fond memories...(To view the entire review, please click on the the link above.)
It’s a nostalgic sound that fans of the pre-glam era will enjoy
author: Score! Music MagazineAs you can see from that notable lyric, these 80’s rockers are not budging from their comfortable synth couches. Simply led by heavy guitar work and moved to subtle rhythms inside a bass drum for the past twenty years - Johnny Jace, and Mark Regula would not give up on their dream. The lyrics skim a common surface, but fit with the dynamic structure in their music. Very heavy synthesizer work pervasive on all four tracks, provide background for wide ranged vocalist Regula, and the vocal harmonies of Tony Novarro. It’s a nostalgic sound that fans of the pre-glam era will enjoy- think “Journey”.
