Gerry Jablonski is one of the UK’s top acoustic guitarists and this 6-track album draws the listener into Gerry’s world of cutting edge musicianship. In 2005 Gerry was voted “Best Solo Act” at both the Dundee Blues Bonanza and the Orkney Blues Festival, 2 very important UK festivals, and this cd will tell you why. The emotion you hear on the track “Anybody” is real as he just manages to compose himself throughout the song, similarly with the title track. In contrast, the soaring vocals on “Touch The Sky” and “Edge Of The Sun” will carry you along on a tidal wave of punchy lyrics and tunes you can easily sing along to if you feel inclined. The final track, “Owed To Jimmy” is a tribute to the great Jimmy Page, one of Gerry’s own favourite guitarists. There’s also a hint of John Martyn peeping through on “The Elder”. This cd has been selling exceptionally well in the UK and it’s time Gerry’s masterpiece was heard by a much wider audience. Below are just a few out of several recent reviews for this cd and Gerry's live performances.
"Press releases for promotional CDs like this one are normally full of hype and hyperbole, so it was refreshing to receive such modest publicity blurb describing the album as a “masterpiece” and “outstanding.” These are complete understatements: The Man Who Lost The Moon is pure music heaven from Scottish genius Gerry Jablonski, already a legend in his homeland but otherwise relatively unknown" - Dave Scott, Blues Matters Magazine, Jan/Feb2006
"The Elder - I'm impressed! Have you been listening to Dave Mathews? Keep it blue....... " Richard from Dublin, Ireland.
"This man is a dynamo. He sounds like a whole Band! Superb mixture of original material and great Blues. Is also influenced by Led Zeppelin, Cream, Bowie and The Who". Dundee Blues Bonanza website.
All the music on this cd is created by Gerry himself, no backing band included nor required! He has been compared to Robert Plant, John Martyn, Steve Perry, Dave Matthews and several others. Buy this cd and judge for yourself.
