notes
The Jack Brass Band brings the fire with their first full-length CD, "Happy Hour".
If you love the sounds of New Orleans, this is the disc to bring the party vibe. Featuring 9 members (2 trombones, 2 saxes, 2 trumpets, 2 drummers, and a sousaphone), the JBB takes you from old school traditionals of New Orleans (I'll Fly Away and St James Infirmary) to the modern street funk.
Also included on the CD is "The Chicken" made famous by the James Brown horn section - but played with a flavor only the brass band sound could get.
Here's what the St Paul Pioneer Press had to say:
"If the weather in Minnesota can be as hot as in New Orleans, why can't the music? Well, it can, according to JBB. Appropriately titled "Happy Hour," the band's debut CD gives the listener 60 minutes' worth of hot, high-energy tunes that can hit with, well, brass-knuckles strength. These cats know how to use their instruments to their and the listener's advantage. Inspired mostly by the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, but also the Beatles, N'Dea Davenport and other pop, jazz and funk acts, these 11 joyous and exuberant songs will surely get your feet moving."

It's a whole hot trunk of sassy funk.......................................
author: doc mongooseI recently had the joy of seeing this 9 piece band perform at the Stones Throw in Eau Claire WI. They serve it up hot and spicey, yet not too hot to handle cuz it goes down well. Blazing horns with plenty o power!
Excellent
author: SarahThis CD is excellent! I cannot stop listening to it! Please make another one soon.
catchy and lively
author: AngelaThis lively CD is very catchy, sort of like most jazz but with more energy though not overstimulating. The more I listen to it, the more I want to hear it again and again. It keeps my feet tapping, and made a great gift for my brother who is a sax player himself.
brassy, bouncy, interstate challenge music
author: Monica SchneiderMy daughter who wears hearing aids, loves this CD. She feels it reverberating because we always have it up loud - especially going down the interstate at 80 miles an hour to go visit her brother at college. I've always loved the brass section and this CD pretty much seals that opinion. Good job!
