From a Spanish and Dutch background, Jackie was born in Hollywood, CA. Her mother was a Spanish Physician, who started her own clinic in the heart of East Los Angeles, when it was a beautiful melting pot of Russian, Italians, Germans and Japanese families. Her father was a mechanic for Jaguar of Hollywood and would moonlight as an ambulance driver for Hollywood Presbytarian Hospital, where he met Helia, Jackie's mother.
Music was always in their home since Jackie was a baby.
Her mother had her first humble clinic out of their 2nd floor Apt. in East Los Angeles and used to play Maria Callas' singing from Disney's Sleeping Beauty and her father would play Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and Dinah Washington to sooth her to sleep. When the family would go out to dinner, Jackie would look forward to hearing her dad sing at the Piano Bars at such places in Hollywood, like Don the Beachcomber and the Villa Capri.
She started singing lessons in the 6th grade and during the 70's began playing at places in Hollywood like Ciro's, Bitter End West, Troubadour, the Bla-Bla Cafe,
the Central(which is now the Viper Room),Madame Wong's East and West. During the Folk-Pop era, she joined a group called "Zachariah" (a Mama's and Papa's type of group) and played throughtout Hollywood and surrounding areas.
After College, she attended the Dick Grove School of Commercial Music, in Studio City. Here she had the chance to meet and record with many great commercial and jazz composers, recording with the Big Bands plus, doing her own shows at smaller intimate clubs in Los Angeles.
She took a time out for awhile to raise three children and when the 3rd child was old enough, she felt it was time to get back to her passion of singing; and to put together not only her favorite standards, but originals and feature a Spanish song she recorded first in English, but she felt in Spanish, "La Voz Del Corazon". Her long time family friend, the late Meno Mora, who produced Latino acts at his Million Dollar Theater, in Los Angeles, and had Jackie do a guest spot on Ch 34, "Nosotros" Variety Show, always would say to her,
"Always do your singing, Mija, You have a gift!"
And that's just what she is doing!

My kind of music
author: Dan W.
This is my kind of music - relaxing and tuneful. Ms. Gibson has the perfect voice for a lounge, piano bar or a quiet evening at home. I'd like to hear more.
