Album Notes

Jack McMahon continues to delight with his highly evolved songcraft and talents, both as a great vocalist and solid guitar player. This collection of songs follows on the promise of his previous release "Toe The Line". It fulfills his quest to delight the listener while covering an even broader musical territory, including everything from funk to folk. Jack has led a long and industrious career from his early teenage endeavors with New Jersey band "Night Watch" to his days as a solo artist recording for Columbia Records and performing around NYC in the 70's. Since moving to the Northwest and settling in Portland OR, Jack has been a perennial favorite on the scene there, performing with his back up band and hosting a monthly songwriters circle. "The Oregonian" calls him a "Portland musical legend" and "Willamette Week" says, "His throaty vocals and folk-rock melodies are a sweet antidote." Jack McMahon is a seasoned artist whose maturity as a writer and performer is especially evident on this recording. It should establish Jack McMahon as an important artist for years to come.

Great songs and production, Jack's voice is mellifulous!

After "Toe the Line" Jack McMahon's terrific last release, I wasn't sure he could top that effort, but he did. Ron Stephens production crackles with nice touches on each song (including his great guitar contributions). Jack easily moves from the soul of "The Man That Love Forgot" and "One and Only Flame" to the beautiful story telling of songs like "John Brown" and "All the Way To Hell" This is a great CD, fantastic songwriting and singing.
