Album Notes

Jackson was born and raised on his family's farm in Bedford, Pennsylvania and grew up listening to all the great music of his parents(hippies) generation. He performed his first gig at the age of six in a local church. At that moment he fell in love with performing music. As Jackson continues his musical journey, it reflects his own ever-changing life. From his early days of punk bands and hip-hop endeavors to his recent solo acoustic project, Jackson's musical spectrum is evolving. Jackson performs with the idea that no matter what genre, a good song is a good song. This quality and diversity can be seen in his new album "Anywhere But Here". Jackson attributes his distinct sound to various influences. Dylan, Jim Croce, Steve Earl, Stevie Wonder, and Bob Marley are major influences in his songwriting, while bands such as Weezer, Goldfinger, and Flogging Molly have influenced his love for driving original music. The 27 year old musician has played bars, clubs, rooftops, sidewalks and any other place he could. From his hometown of Bedford his music has taken him from Boston to Key West and all over the States, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Performing in Rome, Sydney, London, and Amsterdam, Jackson has honed his skills. With fans everywhere from Venezuala to Australia the release of "Anywhere But Here" has been eagerly awaited. The album features 10 solid original tracks that display Jackson's diversity and talent thoroughly. The politically driven reggae tune "Undertow" explains the dissapointment in government and points out the extreme divisions in our culture. On the other end, "Stay Away" is a melodic rock account of hurt and heartbreak from the loser's point of view. The common link all the songs maintain is the emphasis on message and melody. Jackson has been performing around the world for 20 years. On the journeys he's made life long friends, found inspiration, and heartbreak. All the places and all the travel has kept the music fresh and continually, Jackson expands his sound, trying to capture the real strength of quality music-emotion.

Jackson and the drawbacks are an amazing band, they made a great cd but if you get to see them live the experience will be one that you wont forget. Jackson melodies and riffs are tasteful and flow with the music. There are songs for everyone, on the album rock and reggae are the majority. Live theres all kinds of covers from Bad Bad Leroy Brown, Weezer, CSN and many more. All in all Jackson is a talented musician who wants the crowd to have a good time and a memorable one. I would give this album a 10 if i could.
