Album Notes

JackTown has quickly emerged as one of the Northwest's most exciting bands. Unafraid to chart new territory, they have honed a sound all their own, and refuse to be bound by one specific genre or category. Imagine Janis Joplin fronting the Red Hot Chili Peppers--sound interesting? It is!

Currently based in Portland, Oregon, JackTown is poised to take their music to international audiences. Polished, but not restricted, they adhere to the belief that music should be an emotional, exciting experience that leaves a lasting impression.

Solid, funky, thought provoking Rock that is worthy of a listen no matter what your musical taste is. You may find JackTown a new addition to your list of favorites.

Groovy, funky, modern and fronted by a chick! Rock on!

Infectuously groovy live band, as reflected on 2 out of 5 of these cuts. My favorite definitely goes to What You Want (which currently plays on their website homepage). It has a killer riff ala Chili Peps on a melow day, tight and funky. Very dance-able and yet listenable too. That's a hard combo to acheive, and they do it well. I got to hear them live, and they sound flawless when they repeat these songs for an audience, and their few chosen cover tunes are performed impecably as well. Even got to hear their old singer (Darren, you rock!) guest on a couple duo-vocal parts. Fun, feel-good band, check out the site, buy the EP, and see them LIVE!

A *MUST HAVE* well done, full flavor, five song collection!
author: R A W troubadour
The production is sweet and clear with a performance that comes through like they are right in front of you. I can sense years of influence by many great bands and songwriters melding into a sound that is honest and full of fresh insight to this craft. A good band would want to cover these tunes and a listener couldn't help themselves to stop wanting to dance in front of the great musicianship and soul of this recording, ... this is a rare find.
