Album Notes

2008 has started off with a lot of activity for the Jacob Jeffries Band. Jacob headed west to perform at the NAMM Conference in Anaheim, CA, presented by Baldwin Pianos; he performed at BMI’s Leaf Lounge during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT; he performed in Austin, TX at SXSW for the BMI Acoustic Brunch and the Red Gorilla Festival; his band was named Best Live Band by the Broward New Times for 2008, and he recently won the Florida Grammy Showcase!

March 19th he released his debut recording - the first of a series of 3 EP’s to be released independently over the next 6 months. The first EP – Life As An Extra is a more intimate recording, featuring Jacob’s lyrics and voice. The second EP (enclosed) – Wonderful – is being released on July 17th and is a full band recording. Wonderful includes Jacob’s strongest work to date. The third EP and final EP will be a live DVD (more details coming soon!!).

Jacob Jeffries started playing the piano at the age of five. By ten he was writing original music, and at the age of 17, Warner Chappell offered him a publishing deal. Now 20, Jacob has spent the last year+ recording with Grammy Award-winning producers Sebastian Krys and Dan Warner, playing out live with his band and sinking his claws into this business of music.
Jacob Jeffries Band performs regularly in South Florida. Jacob is also an accomplished actor who helped write, produce, and act in original plays and musicals at the Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts in Florida.
Here’s what the press are saying:
“…the Jacob Jeffries Band, who are much more like it. A four-piece from Florida fronted by the engaging, piano-bashing Jeffries, they tap into the classic lineage of ‘70s adult pop (there are traces of Steely Dan, the early years of both solo Paul McCartney and Billy Joel, the humorous literacy of a Randy Newman), and do so expertly… - Q4

“Whether you\'re catching him live or listening to his newest EP… his songs about love, relationships gone bad, and braving the rigmarole aspects of daily existence are potent enough to make the neurons in your face start tingling…Jeffries, neé Jacob Groten, really is the superstar-in-the-making most folks are starting to recognize.” – New Times/Broward

”Bursting with hook-filled melodies and dramatic, instantly likable vocals, the five-song EP foretells a bright future for the piano-popster, who welcomes comparisons to artists such as Ben Folds and Billy Joel” – Miami Herald/Metromix

“The thing that is most apparent, apart from the great music [are] the vocals of Jacob Jeffries. Here lies a talent that should scorch a path to the top. Great things start with a first step and this is one helluva step” - Indie Launchpad
