Jake Mossman is quickly becoming recognized as one of the premiere Flamenco guitarists in the Southwestern United States. He studied Flamenco with famed Flamenco guitarists Adam del Monte, Pedro Cortez, Chuscales, Rafael Riqueni, El Entri and Pedro Cuadra, . He accompanied such dancers and singers as Maria Benitez, El Yiyi and Eva Encinas-Sandoval. Jake also lived in Spain studying Flamenco with singers, dancers and guitarists in Madrid, Jerez and Sevilla. In addition he has performed in theatres throughout the Southwestern United States. In Los Angeles he has performed at the Ivar Theater, The Warner Grand Theater, and at more intimate Flamenco clubs such as Alegria, Habana, and Luna Negra. He recently gave a solo concert in Switzerland to release his new Flamenco CD, Hefesto.
As well as accompanying dancers and singers in the traditional format, Jake has pioneered new Flamenco compositions and arrangements. In 1998 Jake was commissioned to compose and perform music to accompany the voice and 16 dancer choreography of Eva Encinas Sandoval for the "Festival Flamenco Internacional" in Albuquerque, NM. In 1999 he was commissioned by the Santa Fe based dance company, "Cabaret Ole", to arrange and perform the opera "Carmen" as a quintet, fusing the music of Bizet with Flamenco and Argentinean Tango. That same year, he was commissioned to arrange and perform the baroque music of Marin Marais for Flamenco dancer, Maria Benitez. Jake introduced Flamenco guitar classes at Pasadena City College in Los Angeles, and has recently begun teaching Classical and Flamenco guitar at Doña Ana Branch Community College in Las Cruces, NM.

I really enjoyed the music. THink you play beautifully. I first heard you on my son Mat Barber's documentary he did and you were on the train in New Mexico and you impressed me very much with your wonderful calmness and wanting to teach others to love the art..Shortly after this, you fell in love and married. Hope you are doing what you want to, whether it be teaching others or playing for others. You have a wonderful gift. Judy Barber
