Far from a melancholy meditation on death this jazz album includes soul bearing ballads, ironic waltzes, dark dances of ghoulish spirits, and gentle reflections. The melodies, harmonic progressions and macabre themes for much of the album are drawn from early English and German baroque arias and folk songs. Recording for three nights in an underground dance studio drummer/composer Jacob Reed and his favorite local musicians captured the precision of a studio record and the unbridled raw energy of live jazz.
