An intuitive performer who always delivers intense, melodic alternative not quite jazz tinged songs love, lust, departure, anger, seduction and pain, through her interesting vocals, and unique, not quite, blues acoustic guitar tilt.

notes
"Safer than A Baby" by Jacqueline Amidy
THIS 2004 release of Australian music is a gorgeous mix of Jacqueline's acoustic guitar and thrilling vocals, fused with jazz-inspired drums. This is a project in the simple pleasure of the acoustic live sound.
Always difficult to slot an original music but, think John Mayer, beside Joni Mitchell, listening to Billy Holiday, and considering going to a Ben harper concert. mmm In other words, Jacqueline is one of those rare intuitive performers who always deliver intense, raw, real, but with humour and interest.
"safer than a baby" was conceived in a wooden cottage - and recorded live to enable Jacqueline to explore the acoustic soundscapes in replicating the essence of live playing
Live and recorded, Jacqueline Amidy has a passionate and astonishing voice, and a unique tilt on playing the guitar. SHE REALLY PLAYS.
These songs are a welcome surprise to a waiting world. Both Jacqueline's voice and guitar set her apart as a unique and exciting Australian artist.
With a lush sound that seems too layered to come from a duo/trio, live and recorded, Jacqueline plays heart-felt melodic songs of love, lust, departure, anger, seduction and pain.
Intense and delicate.
Jacqueline, with Julia Day on drums, and an ocassional double bass, delivers her CD of original songs of love, lust, departure, anger, seduction and pain.
Try it. Some Critics have said of her..
Bob Evans, Sydney Morning Herald, Australia"...an astonishing singing voice."
Mick Barnes, Sun Herald Australia"...a great voice range and appealing stage presence."
Matt Byrne, The News (South Australia)
"...superb...destined to be a singing star..."
Tim Lloyd, The Advertiser (South Australia)

GREAT cd
author: heatherthis cd is so freaking good. jac has such a unique and awesome voice. there isn't a song on Safer Than A Baby that isn't a great listen. i usually have a few favorite songs on any cd i like...and i don't have a favorite song on this cd because all the songs are so good. i love love love this cd.
think this will live with me for quite a while
author: jenny daviessurprising, this snuck up on me. I saw the chick and the guitar and I expected the same old , same old, but Jacqueline seems to have many parts to her songs that stand her apart. Bob dylan is an excellent track. She seems to know parts of my story and this song put me right back in the drivers seat for a storey I could relate to. Safer than a Baby almost seems to come from some sexy blues club, to slip onto this CD and kick ass. All up I must say Ms amidy's voice got me in , and I stay there for more. It's a simple album. Seems to say just enough, with just enough ords. I think this will live with me for quite a while
