Pop/rock group Jag Star has been winning audiences over, fan by fan, for the last 5 years. This popular Knoxville, TN-based band has been featured in Vanity Fair and Billboard Magazine, and was recently included on Blender Magazine's CD compilation. Their song, "Leavin'" is currently the trailor theme song for MTV's new show, "The Hills" (a Laguna Beach spin-off). They were chosen to perform at the Sundance Film Festival, featured in a VH-1/Budweiser t.v. ad, and also garnered a considerable amount of commercial radio support, a rare achievement by an independent group. One of Jag Star's music videos was chosen to be featured on the new "Laguna Beach Season 1 DVD", released in July. The 2nd season of Laguna is also pushing Jag Star: featuring 2 tracks from the bands latest album -- "Invite Me To Your Next Dream" and "Home Part 2", increasing their downloads by 500%. Says lead singer/songwriter Sarah Lewis, 'People always ask us ‘how did you do that by yourselves' and I say hard work pays off. We go after everything, and we've proven that we are a solid effort, in our recordings and our touring. We're blessed to have made it this far on our own, and it's very exciting." Lewis recently won the Grand Prize in the USA Songwriting Competition, beating out 28,000 other songwriters from all over the world. The winning song, 'Mouth", is featured on their 2002 release 'Crazy Place".

Jag Star's latest release, 2004's 'Cinematic", has received rave reviews. 'Musicianship is

Their music is featured on MTV's "Laguna Beach", 'Road Rules", 'The Real World", 'Strong Medicine", 'Good Girls Don't", A & E's "Roller Girls" and the 'Laguna Beach DVD". They've shared the stage with Macy Gray, Dashboard Confessional, Edwin McCain, Michelle Branch, Bowling For Soup, and were picked as a top 10 finalist in Dick Clark's 'Coca-Cola New Music Award" competition. But their proudest moment to date? 'Our overseas tours for the troops, for sure", says Lewis. Jag Star traveled to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Qatar, Bahrain, Kyrgystan, Singapore, Guam, Hawaii, etc… to perform concerts for the troops. They lived in the tents for a month, and came back with a greater appreciation for the military and their families.

    ...the power, grace and longing that one hears on Cinematic, the band’s third full-length album. It’s not so much a departure from the fun, dance-crazy sound of the first two albums as much as it is a progression from their solid base to something more substantial and lasting. The first song of the new album stakes its claim as a player in the summer hit sweepstakes. “Space” soars in that ethereal world between pop, techno and rock—and does so in a way that should appeal to fans of all three genres. Cinematic is filled with songs that vary from Sarah McLaughlinesque keyboard laden ballads to straight up dancehall chasers. The unifying force of the album is the voice of Jag Star frontwoman Sarah Lewis, a singer who can handle both the intimate whispery moments and the lungs-of-steel notes with equal aplomb. The album closes with the simple piano and vocal number “Along for the Ride” which is a perfect soundtrack song waiting for the right movie. Throughout every track, Jag Star and its production hits all the right notes in creating the proper atmosphere for the song in question whether it be the thumping electronic rhythm of “This House” or the ska sounding “Call Me Crazy.”

    Very well written and well produced album. I had never heard of Jag Star until I saw them opening for another act. I liked their music so much I picked up their last two cd's and got a chance to meet the band for about 15 minutes when they were in texas. Sarah and J were very nice.
