ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
To sum it up… my music is Life Music; music that has the ability to penetrate your soul and change your mood and mindset,” says Katrina Kidd who we are presently introducing to the world as JAIA [Just As I Am]. JAIA’s career began at the tender age of 3 years old by singing at church and the community outreach center. This amazing songster has been inspired by some of the world’s greats, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Caesar, Yolanda Adams, Mary J. Blidge, Erykah Badu, Foreign Exchange, and Maxwell. However, JAIA, the Birmingham, Alabama melodic vocalist, has reigned in comparison to the legendary Billie Holiday. “My music talks about what I have gone through, as well as how I relate to different instances in life. I do believe that it is my gospel, being that I write exactly what I feel and how I process it in my mind and in reality.” -JAIA

Being no stranger to Open Mics around town, JAIA has also performed at events held at the Boutwell Auditorium, Legends Sports Lounge, Merienda Lounge, Plum Bar, and Boss Ultra Lounge just to name a few spots. “Writing my own material is very important to me. It helps me piece things together by looking at a situation in every angle possible, allowing me to write my feelings out, even when I don’t really know how to properly analyze them. Just getting every thought on paper and forming them into a song is a sweet release for me.” -JAIA

The future is very promising for this celebrated Artist with multiple projects, as well as several upcoming tours, and collaborations with other entertainers. “I also believe that people can relate to an Artist better when they realize that they are human with similar problems. It’s important that my audience know that I am real and that my work has heart.”
Much Love -JAIA
