Album Notes

Jai (pronounced Jay), of St. Louis Missouri, is a former background singer for gospel duo, Mary Mary and is featured on Lecrae's new album, Rebel on the song "Live Free," as well as on J.R. of Cross Movement Records' "Life By Stereo" album on the songs "Tonight" and "Ok." She will be releasing her debut EP, FOCUS in February. Jai's Focus EP is produced by Cross Movement Records recording artist and So Hot Productions co-founder, J.R.

Jai is a third generation minister, a worship Pastor, an entrepreneur, a student, a wife and a mother. At an early age Jai knew that music would somehow be a part of her life. Jai was always the token soloist at elementary plays and musicals, but later Jai took it upon herself to learn how to play instruments so that she could someday become a musician at her Father's Church. By the age of nine Jai was a key player in the music ministry and by the age of eighteen she became the minister of music. With more than 20 years (basically all of her life) in the field of ministry, Jai has served as a Youth Pastor, Retreat and Conference Facilitator, Speaker, Teacher, Minister of Music and featured guest in churches worldwide.

One of the core messages of Jai's ministry is her personal testimony of abstinence. Despite many temptations in high school and college, by God's grace, Jai remained a virgin. God honored her abstinence and in 2002 Jai was married to the love of her life Isiah Williams. And three months after their union the Lord Himself blessed her and Isiah to get pregnant with their daughter Taylor Alyssa. Talk about God's divine plan! Another passion of hers is to convey to young women and men the importance of working in their local communities and churches while simultaneously getting their education. Jai is a prime example of that because her primary focus at this time is her music ministry, being an active member of her church, her Father's church and her community.

Alongside holding a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media Communications from Webster University, she is presently one class and a thesis away from obtaining her Master of Arts Degree in Media Communications. Because of her heart for the Kingdom of God, God has blessed her beyond her wildest dreams by opening doors and placing her in places that only HE could. Jai started her professional music career in 2003 with local producers and singers. After opening for JR (Cross Movement Records) in St. Louis, Jai and JR musically connected. They began working on creating innovative music that was not only stylistically current to pop/hip hop culture, but edifying to the Lord Jesus Christ.

After Jai made the decision that message outweighed genre, God began to open even more doors. Since that decision she has shared the stage with, Tye Tribett and G.A., Byron Cage, John P. Kee, Deborah Cox, Da Truth, Flame, Trip Lee, Shirley Ceasar, Yolanda Adams, Hezekiah Walker, Rickey Smiley, KiKi Sheard, and JMoss to name a few. Jai was also privileged to sing in the Los Angeles gospel stage play "Who Do You Love?" starring Jeris Lee Poindexter (Everybody Hates Chris) and Erica Campbell (Mary Mary) and directed by award winning actress Iona Morris. While currently working on her solo EP, scheduled to release January 2009.

With Jai's meek spirit, inviting smile, charismatic personality and heart for God, she is sure to soar beyond her expectations.

REVIEWS

Holy smokes, will this get your party hoppin'! This is totally pro, hot R&B pop in the style of Pink, Rihanna, or her Christian contemporaries Mary Mary, for whom she was a background singer. With 5 tight and punchy songs, there's no filler here, just top notch production of some very catchy, hook-filled top 40 gospel. Packed with dense and dark synth bass, layers of vocals, and foot stomping beats, and more hooks than a tackle box, these crafty songs are rather dark and mysterious in their production, yet have hopeful, positive lyrics. It's a cunning combination that's sure to keep the listener intrigued. With a great musical resume and a strong new CD, this clever young wife and mother has everything it takes to make it big in the urban Christian scene.
