Album Notes

Jai Rodriguez does it all. Best known for his Emmy Award-winning role as the “Culture Guy” on Bravo’s hit Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, he is also a singer, musician, actor and best-selling author. Born on Long Island on June 22, 1979, Jai began his singing career at the age of 17 when he was cast as Angel in the hit musical RENT—a role that he performed for five years. Jai also has appeared in theater workshops, such as Hairspray and Radiant Baby, as well as other Broadway shows, including Hair (Grammy nominated soundtrack), The Producers, Zanna Don’t and Spinning into Butter at Lincoln Center.

In 2002, Jai created his own musical pop rock cabaret show, titled “Twisted Cabaret Mondays,” which ran at New York Club XL for an impressive two years to packed houses. Additionally, he has partnered on stage with mega stars such as Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight, Brian McKnight, Taylor Dayne and Michelle Williams.

The following year, Jai’s television career took off with Queer Eye, where he used his skills and social charisma to coach men on everything from how to dance to how to romance. He even co-authored a book with his fellow Queer Eye hosts that landed on the coveted New York Times best-seller list.

Since then, Jai has been featured on several series, including The Jury, ABC Family’s America’s Prom Queen, SiTV’s Styleyes Miami and the Style Network’s Ultimate Style, which he co-hosts with Daisy Fuentes. He also hosts Animal Planet’s summer breakout hit Groomer Has It. Other television credits include All My Children, One Life to Live, and LOGO’s Rick and Steve, as well as a guest-starring role on Nip/Tuck, Season 5.

Jai is thrilled to be releasing his much anticipated debut album. The first single “Broken”, is now released under Airgo Music, and is available at airgomusic.com, the iTunes Music Store, as well as through many other digital music retail outlets.

Get to the Dance Floor
author: Mike Andrews
I still can't believe Jai's music wasn't on the Queereye for the Straight Guy soundtrack. Broken is the perfect dance floor anthem. His vocals compliment the beats per minute perfectly.
