Listening to United, the new Cd from The Jakals, I was taken on a trip of musical listening pleasure. First and foremost, I would like to say that not one of the songs on this Cd is a "filler". I dig each and every song. Now for the most part, the Cd has a blues based rock sound. Each song however has hints of influential musical greats we grew up listening to. For instance in the opening track "Highway" the music reminds me of ZZ Top meets Sammy Hagar, As Chay transitions the vocals, he brings almost a Motorhead deliverance. Very cool, deep and somber. Now what could be cooler than some MotorHead sounding blues? "Everybody Cries" has more of a top 40's feel, but true to rock in the same style of bands like Cheap Trick and Billy Squire. The vocals hear are brought across in the same soft style of Bob Dylan, and actually resonates that sound to me in this ballad. Next the song "Amy" has a very catchy beat, and melody, and this song is a little more up beat than the previous two. It was bought to our attention as well, that this song was about drugs and addiction, not a girl of the same name. Wow! This happens to be our fav jam on the cd by the way. Now I could talk about each and every song on this Cd, but I will leave it to you to draw your own opinions, and not spoil the ending so to speak. If you are looking for reassureance and a reason to buy this Cd, let me just say this, There is only two types of music. Good and Bad. This Cd is "Good"in the sense that its diversity shines. This is a rock and blues cd that bears influential presense in the songs deliverd to the listener. The music compisiton is great as well melding the vocals and music simplisticly so neither overpowers the other. I strongly think that this unison is what makes this a good Cd, and will keep me looking for more of the same for years to come.

The Jakals "United"
author: montalian
The first time i heard The Jakals, I was on myspace checking out a friends request and the page i was on had" Amy" on there player. i heard the opening to the song and was overwhelmed by the sound i heard. I seen the band name, "The Jakals" and said to myself, why haven't i heard these guy's before. Who are they, where are they from?
Right away I sent an e-mail to my partner Metal Mike and told him to check them out. He was equally impressed with the new band that had made it's way to our ear's!
After listening to the entire album,"United", (which was released July 2nd in the state's) that i received from the band at Rocklahoma, i knew that this wasn't just another album from a basically, unknown band. This was an album, that I believe, has several top fourty hit's and evan number one hit's with song's like "Amy", "Everybody Cries", and "Higher". This album has no filler song's in it! Every song on the album has the potential to crack the top fourty and bridge a gap to help preserve rock music at the same time!
The simplicity of there music, and the catchy riff's, are a true sign, that this album will reach out to a wide variety of music listener"s including, rock, blues, country, and classical style's. Believe me when I tell you that, The Jakals, will move you!!
The Jakals are basically a rock band out of the U.K. that are wanting to leave an everlasting impression on rock music in the U.S. It's all about the music and fan's! No room for ego's here!!! Just kick ass rock n roll. With that in mind, The Jakals are able to stay focused with where the want to go.....straight to the top!!! So with that said, jump on The Jakals band wagon and be the first in your neighborhood to say you had there album before anyone! Your gonna fall in love with this band like i did!!!! The best band i've heard in the last 10 years!!!!

United

This is one of the finest first albums I have ever heard. How long is it since you listened to proper rock songs with a hook and riffs that give you goose bumps? It reminds me of lots of early "good" rock like Humble Pie and Free early Stones and even a bit of Guns and Roses but with a real up to date modern feel. The track Amy is amazing... but then all the tracks are great. If you like rock music you will love this album, hey if you have two ears you will adore United.
