Album Notes

"The stripped down nature of Jake's songs make the lyrics pop into the foreground. The songwriting is very strong, and even more thought provoking. A beautiful collection of stories that I recommend to everyone who love singer/ songwriter music." -New England Entertainment Digest

Biography:

Jake Hill is not your average singer/songwriter sob story: he has friends; he is athletic; he is generally accepted by society. But, his ability to write songs, and tell stories about love and life are just as strong as many out there touring nationally today.

The Plymouth, Massachusetts native has played everything from jazz to punk and pop to ska in his 14 years of dabbling in different forms of music. You can sense his unwillingness to settle into a genre in his music. Its not intentional though, its almost as if he is a little bit lost, but only has grown wiser from it–a more distilled message, with less junk on the edges.

And not until he was introduced to the likes of Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Woodie Guthrie, and Hank Williams did he find his passion for writing songs. “The simplicity of the songs, and the strength of the narratives just made it all come together for me. I needed to play this music, but with my own flavor. After all, I’m a kid who grew up in a middle class neighborhood with a loving family. I don’t know the hurt of riding freight trains, and getting in gun fights; but I do know the hurt of having your heart broken, everyday strife, and the contradictions in society.”

His music is as true as his words. He is a songwriter. He is an observant man in the toil of everyday living–living in your world today.
