ALL ABOUT JAKE!
These days, in the world of music, childhood is short. Children are pulled more and more quickly from the innocent rhythms of toddler hood, to the encroaching grasp of pop music with its adult, often inappropriate themes.
Jake makes music that provides a safe musical refuge for the blossoming minds of our young. His well-crafted, musically diverse, and humourous songs are meant to give children a precious extra year or two to love music that was made purely for them.
Both HAPPY ALL OF THE TIME (currently nominated for a 2006 Juno Award for Children's Album of the Year) and his debut album TAKE A LITTLE RIDE WITH ME (winner of a 2004 Parents’ Choice Gold Award) bring to life the music that Jake hears inside his head. It is music that is full of melody and natural human rhythm, and that’s why you won’t hear any drum machines or sequencers on these records. Play this music for children, and watch what happens! Real music was, and always will be, real magic.
A full-time children’s songwriter and performer for several years, Jake is originally from Ontario, Canada and has become a popular favourite at festivals and municipal events in that province, including the Toronto Street Festival, the Burlington Children’s Festival, and the Sound of Music Festival. This past summer, Jake played for over 35,000 people during the “Day Out With Thomas” event in Ontario, and his “hilarious, lively and engaging” solo set continues to enthrall children in libraries, schools, and private functions.
Currently, Jake lives with his wife and two children in the artistically inspiring natural beauty of Pender Island, British Columbia, where he’s working on expanding his audience to the coastal crowd.
Jake’s music is included on Casablanca Kids compilations with Fred Penner, Jack Grunsky, Sharon Lois & Bram and more, being distributed throughout North America. His songs receive regular airplay on radio stations across the United States, while his book “I Thought I Saw Zoo”, co-written with Grade One children, now resides in a Toronto school library.
Both CDs are available at fine children’s book and toy stores across Canada through national distributor FIRE THE IMAGINATION (1-888-780-0864) or online at www.musicbyjake.com and www.cdbaby.com.
