Album Notes

Jalebee Cartel has challenged the notion that dance music is a Western domain by single-handedly putting India on the international EDM map. Composed of four members, Arjun Vagale (laptop, mixing and scratching), Ashvin Mani Sharma (laptop and synths), Ash Roy (vocals and percussions) and G-force Arjun (bass/synth-lines), Jalebee has been taking India by storm for over three years. From individual DJ sets to collective live gigs, producing to composing, the multi-talented group pretty much does it all. And the quality is evident from the international interest it's amassing.
“ONEPOINTNOTHING” is the sound of Jalebee Cartel mixing up genres in a 72-minute trip that rewires the future and contorts the past. With a short, sharp and brutal declaration of intent, Jalebee Cartel—still underground after all these years—chases the dream of putting India on the world electronic dance map. Each member of this four-piece band brings his unique sound to the Cartel, remarkably shown in “Mirrors”, a unique blend of heavy guitar riffs, bouncy basslines and twisted melodies. The band’s explosive live set has amassed a huge fan following, both in India and internationally. “Midnite Madness”, a high-energy percussion driven track, is a tribute to these fans. Jalebee Cartel has never shied away from challenging innovations. Their music video of “Tough Cookie” is a classic example of this. Peaking at #4 on the VH1 music video charts, it was an obvious addition to the album. Jalebee salutes the likes of Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode and Underworld with “Dark Shadows”, a club anthem with old school synths, guitars and vocals. The band defines their new sound with “Apartment 88”, a funky tech-house tune, and “A Crazy Virus on Akerstraat”, a peak-time techno monster.
