(from the CD liner notes)
The music on this CD was made by three friends from Long Island who first started playing together in a progressive hard rock band during the early 90s.
For the past ten years they have gotten together regularly (they try to play every week) to jam. They play only improvised music because they're too lazy to write or work on songs. The trio refers to their improvisations as: Musical Intercourses Spontaneously Realized.
J.A.M. Authority describes their sound as "John Coltrane meets Black Sabbath."
This is not the typical jam music of endless solos, based on running a riff or chord progression into the ground for 20 minutes. This is music in which sonic-seeds sprout into sound-trees before your very ears, and where direction-moods (and keys) change on a dime or organically evolve (and mutate). And musical doors are flung open to reveal newly realized soundscapes of beauty, intensity, subtlety, dark-light, joy-sad, love-spirit, and majesty.
After more than a decade of improvising together, the trio has developed a telepathic musical style similar to that of great jazz groups. And while the band certainly has jazz overtones in their sound, they first and foremost definitively Rock.
Their jams are (more or less) professionally recorded in Marc's private studio. What you are holding is a collection featuring a few of them.

Spontaneous !
author: Laura T Lynch of Kweevak.com
J.A.M. Authority originated in the early 90's when three friends from Long Island, New York started playing together in a progressive hard rock band. Over the next decade, they developed synergy as a group by tapping into each other's musical energy in the tradition of great jazz bands. Although their music has jazz roots their primary focus is pure rock. J.A.M. Authority states that "they play only improvise music because they're too lazy to write or work on songs." Their seven-track collection features guitar, bass and drums. The band is tight and their music is in a constant state of evolution with radical tempo, key and mood swings. Experimentation and various musical textures set the overall tone of this CD, which could be consider one long jam as each song flows seamlessly into the next. The music is spontaneous and the musicianship is first rate. If you are looking for flavorful jams that uphold the customs of jazz, than indulge in the J.A.M. Authority's latest CD!
