Unless you are a rattlesnake or a stinging scorpion, you probably never heard of where James Allred came from but as soon as he was big enough to swing a guitar over his shoulder and thumb down a semi, he was on his way to Big D (Dallas, Texas). There he cut his musical teeth on Texas Pop Rock, Hard Rock, Glam Rock and Performance Art Rock playing with bands like WILDFLOWER, SACRE BLEU and legendary performance art group VISIONARY INDIAN ANGEL. He was writing songs and playing solo acoustic gigs as well.
James then went to Europe with his drummer Jamie Clearlight, spending a great deal of time in Amsterdam performing with the group HYGORA, playing at The Paradiso, MELKWEG, The Branderi and The Cosmos.
Upon returning to the states, James did what any good Texas rocker would. He flagged down that semi and headed to Austin, where he returned to playing punk rock, hard rock, blues rock and folk rock with bands like ICE 9 and JOKERS WALTZ. He played at every club in Austin from Steamboat to Liberty Lunch, Club Foot to The Continental Club and at the infamous Texas punk music festival WOODSHOCK.
Around that time, James fell more and more in love with the sweet, warm sound of his acoustic guitar and performing solo or with small acoustic ensembles. Then the magnificent beauty and moist, chilly climate of the great northwest whispered to James. In Seattle he resurrected the band JOKERS WALTZ , this time it was acoustic with violin and percussion, performing in coffee houses and clubs like The Colorbox, Cafe Paradiso, Art Bar and The Backstage.
James Allred is now touring around the country in a van, performing solo and promoting his latest CD Titled JAMES ALLRED, recorded in Portland at Cool Blue Studios. Co-produced by producer/engineer/musician John Reynolds www.reynoldsaudio.com. Look for James and his guitar in your city. www.jamesallred.net

True poetry to music, accomplished, real and a delight to hear
author: Jonathan KinskiIt is rare these days to hear music that sounds real, tells the truth and is unique. Every song has a point, speaks intimately to the highs and lows of the human condition. It made me laugh, cry and shake my booty at the same time. It is staying in my CD player and I ordered a couple for my friends so they won't borrow mine.
Hedwig, Dylan and The Stray Cats.
author: HairwideI dug this sound. I listened to Ebony Angel and it felt like Dylan meets The Stray Cats, nice swang with interesting lyrics and feel. The violin throughout much of what I listened to was haunting and placed perfectly in the mix, nice one. Sweet Dreams Marie was interesting and had a vocal and lyrical style that put me in mind of the guy who did the Hedwig stuff. Slightly comic with a darker underbelly and fine musicianship. Right on!
