An icy morning in late February in the historic Oakwood section of downtown Raleigh, brought the start of the studio sessions for James Dunn’s debut EP, “Lonely American Dream”. The 9 days of sessions brought seven new tracks of Americana, rock n roll, blues and folk music. Written in an old apartment over an antique store in Raleigh, NC, “Lonely American Dream” takes the listener on a ride down the road of love, love lost with some fun and rock n roll and living along the way.

Music came rather late to James, in comparison to many of today’s songwriters. Given a a steel guitar by his grandfather in college, the instrument collected dust for a few years until a move to Bowling Green, Kentucky and Nashville, Tennessee brought music back into focus. His grandfather played in the ‘big bands’ of the 30’s and 40’s in the Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania. James’ grandfather’s passing inspired him to take up music and carry on the tradition of songwriting and music. It is difficult to classify Dunn’s musical genre as it hits on rock, folk, blues and Americana, all the while, focusing on lyrics that leave the listener the opportunity to see their own lives through the song’s lyrics.

Having lived in New Jersey, North Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee, James Dunn’s music has influences from his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina to the Jersey coast all the way to the hills of Kentucky and Tennessee.
