Album Notes

Hold onto your mouse, you’re just a click away from the easy, hip wit of James Forman’s pop and jazz collection of tunes about “Life on the The Internet.” From the title track “Life on the Internet” to the swinging “You’ve Got Mail!” and the hip woes of the ever-spreading “Virus Blues,” the lyrics and music of these songs are some of the most original, entertaining work about the Web ever. The uptempo “E-Shop Shuffle” salutes the faster pace of a time-honored tradition, while “Chatroom Rendezvous” celebrates the yearnings of lovers cloaked in online anonymity. In “Cybersex,” James gets down to the racier possibilities of the X-click. Two other lovely compositions, the laid-back “A Billie Holiday” evoking the style of the great Lady Day, and “Beyond All Question,” a moving ballad about the profound simplicity of pure love, round out this tasteful, timely, fun CD. James Forman is a singer-songwriter in the San Francisco Bay Area. With a steadily growing following who call him the new Cole Porter, he performs original compositions as well as the repertoire of jazz standards. Audiences love the warmth and intimacy of his sound. “Each song I write or sing,” James says, “is for me like a ride on the San Francisco Bay ferryboat. Calm or rocky, sunny or foggy, they’re all exhilarating.” His second CD, A Billie Holiday, original jazz tunes as well as standards from the American songbook, is available at jmforman4@hotmail.com.
