JAMES GREY / BIOGRAPHY

James Grey is a singer / songwriter who betrays the popullar genre with a sound that consistently and effortlessly captures
listeners from across the musical spectrum.

On his 2001 " SHADOWS IN LIGHT " CD Grey explores the cross- pollination of styles that influence his music. From the explosive light of the opening track "Love Changes Everything " to " Before The Storm ", through the hopeful insight of
" Leah ", "SHADOWS IN LIGHT " tells of the many shadows that life, loss, and learning casts - while never loosing sight of the light.

Songs crafted with some of today's brightest rising song writing talents. Sung with friends Arnold McCuller
( James Taylor,Lyle Lovett, Bonnie Raitt, Phil Collins ) and Teresa James ( Eric Clapton, John Haitt, TV and Film ). Played with guitarist Billy Watts ( Lucinda Williams, Dixie Chicks ), keyboardist Giovanna Imbesi ( Dave Koz, Andy Summers, Narada Michael Walden, TV and Film ), and others. Sonicly shaped by the legendary Pro Tools mixer / editor Chilitos Valenzuela.

On his self titled 1994 release, Grey's heartland roots and songwriting diversity step forward in songs such as "A Thousand Lies" and "Sunriver". His second record, 1998's "Windows" was shaped with the help of Producer / Bassist Taras Prodaniuk ( Dwight Yoakam, Pete Anderson, Lucinda Williams ), and a band consisting of some of today's most sought after session / touring musicians. Press said "No " Grey " area here, this is a promising artist. " (Music Connection Magazine Vol. XX11, No.14 ) Radio said " James Grey is ready ... -- A MAJOR DEAL ! " ( KLOSfm's Bill Hartew ).
Industry said " Rare songs that can heal...very rare." ( Karen Taylor Good, CMA and SESAC writer of year. )

Based in the Southern California area, Grey has been a featured artist at LA's legendary Troubadour, New York City's Bitter End, Northwest's Experience Music Project Museum, Midwest's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Nashville's leading showcase venues, and up and down both coasts.

Great Music

James Grey is really great to see in person. I have seen him before and prefer just the "man and his guitar". The CD seems to have a more manufactured feel with the background music. How about a CD of just James' wonderful voice and his guitar..
