This album is comprised of all new songs written this year (2012); the first all new song, major project in about ten years. Why have I called it "Basic Blue"? The project name reflects my intention to produce a set of songs that reflect my earliest musical roots; these roots go all the way back to the 1950's, the musical dynamic of those years and my formative years in school, and perhaps most important of all, my getting involved in making music.
I had a childhood record collection that was diverse: Al Caiola, Bo Diddley, Hank Williams, Dave Brubeck, Jimmy Reed, Buddy Holly . . . barely scratching the surface. I played guitar, bass, and banjo in folk, rock and jazz bands. The best description for the music: Americana. Americana's roots of blues, rock, jazz, country, folk are all sensed within the collection of songs here.
Thank you; I hope you enjoy discovering my roots and perhaps a few of your own when you listen to my music.
