Biography of James L Herman
August 2010

Mr. James L. Herman is an avid writer of songs, poetry, full length novels, and children's' short stories. He has written for over thirty years, and has published songs and novels. He is in the process of having a collection of his short stories and poems published under the pen name "Uncle Jim."

Jim prefers writing country western tunes as he feels country songs depict the true feelings of most common folk. His favorite is writing short stories and poems targeted for children, which are usually humorous and often have a moral directed toward the child.

Among other talents, Mr. Herman enjoys woodworking, inventing electronic devices, and gardening. His belief is keeping busy is the secret of long life and happiness. Jim Herman has been married to Sheila, the same beautiful lady, for forty three years. Although he loves children, has none of his own.

FLEETING LOVE [James Herman / Trowbridge Publishing BMI]

Will I see you in the future, even though we both just met
Is there someone else you'd rather see, am I just a passing bet
Am I just to be a fill in, for a love that did not show
Although I'm just plain looking, there is something you should know

CHORUS
Beauty is but skin deep, it can break your heart
Why then search for beauty, it's wise not to start
So instead of beauty, why not look at me
My love's everlasting, give it time you will see

As you see I'm just plain looking, and I seldom get a glance
My plea is you get to know me, and to give me just a chance
For just as you I too need love, to remain here by my side
I will always be your lover, if by me you always bide

Even though I'm in this wayward bar, it's the best that I can do
I'm here to search for someone, is that someone to be you
Will you wrap your arms around me, and look at the inner me
For beauty lies within my heart, if you search there you will see

When you see what I have to offer, this is my humble plea
Even though I'm just a plain one, please return again to me
For I promise to take care of you, will you listen to my cry
You'll never search for love again, with you always by my side

CHORUS
Beauty is but skin deep, It can break your heart
Why then search for beauty, it's wise not to start
So instead of beauty, why not look at me
My love's everlasting, give it time you'll see

CHRISTMAS CHEER [James Herman / Trowbridge Publishing BMI]

Christmas, Christmas a wonderful time of year
Christmas, Christmas a time for glorious cheer
Christmas, Christmas time for bells to ring
So lift a glass of joy with me come along and sing

See the children as they watch for Santa and his sleigh
Being good as they should so he will come their way
Building snowmen, riding hay rides, ice skating on ponds
Feeling merry, bright and cherry, singing Christmas songs

People bundled from the cold each going to and fro
Shopping with your dear friends while trudging through the snow
Spreading cheer as you greet strangers in the store
Isn't this a wonderful time, a great time of the year

It's the time to feel the warmth of friends and family
From your cheer you will hear it's very nice to see
So you can see that this must be a special time of year
A time for joy a time to sing and for bells to ring

Share the warmth and your good cheer with all of those you greet
You will feel the same each time as you chance to meet
For this is the best time of the year we all do agree
A time for love a time to share a time for good cheer

Christmas, Christmas a wonderful time of year
Christmas, Christmas a time for glorious cheer
Christmas, Christmas time for bells to ring
So lift a glass of joy with me come along and sing
