ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Texas Singer-Songwriter James Louis Reeves released this album of original music in September 2011. The Title song, “My Other Life”, is a duet with Austin soul diva Leeann Atherton. Hurricane Katrina frames the acoustic rock track “Alligators In The Street”. “Too Tough For Me” is a rousing tongue-in-cheek look at songwriting. “Riding in My Dreams” is pure rodeo country while “Texas August” a Texas two-step look at the hot Texas Summer. Reeves’ voices his Gulf Coast roots and a concern for it in the ballad “Five Thousand Feet Down”. “Twenty-Five Miles From Nowhere” and “New Man Every Night” are boogie-rock tracks about relationships. Leeann Atherton provides the harmony for the chorus on “New Man”. Switching into a sweet jazz ballad, “How Beautiful You Are”, is punctuated by some tasty jazz guitar licks performed by George Coyne. “Five Pounds of Dust” recalls personal loss and the need to acknowledge feelings for those we love.

Texas is a country rich in music. This CD by James Louis Reeves gives voice to some of Texas’s best musical styles.
