Liner Notes to Real, Real Man:
First, let me say that it was an honor to be asked to do the liner notes for James Power's ‘Real, Real Man’ CD. Anyone familiar with James' past work knows that he is an extremely gifted writer and an exceptional musical talent, both as a singer and musician. While many artists struggle to find their unique voice, James seems to have effortlessly found his with a body of work that taps into the same musical heritage as artists such as Buddy Holly, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash.
On this CD James writes of Tennessee Boys and Texas Girls, the Honey Belle and the bar room scoundrel, the billowing pride of the cocksure male, and the poignant fate of a man facing the end. At times bold and fearless, other times bittersweet and downhearted, sometimes with a tongue-in-cheek humor, but always with an honest delivery and the ability to sing rock n’ roll the way it was meant to be sung – real, REAL, man!
I hope you’ll enjoy listening to this CD as much as I have. But be forewarned – James Power’s melodies do not soon leave your mind!
