James R. Iafrati is of Italian and Welsh heritage. He has lived in Paris France, Verona & Rome,Italy. This early influence of art, music and culture developed his passion, and love of the Arts. He received his Masters Degree in Arts and studied at the Eastman School in Rochester, New York. James is a composer, arranger, plays flugelhorn, piano & sings. He has taught at the secondary levels of Music Education and is President of James Music & Art.

He has lived in the Portland/Vancouver area for years.This latest recording compilation represents a cross-genre of original Music with Art in mind."Music is Art & Art is Music".

"Original Jouney" is meant to be easy listening, but also has a direction and depth. A few of Portland's great musicians decided to sit in on the sessions.

James is also an Abstract Painter. All of the music on "Original Journey" has a painting that goes directly with the composition.His use of original musical manuscript interplayed with abstract art is considered totally original and unique. A total "Arts Integration" is part of his goal, juxtaposing music manuscript in relation to space, sound and light.As many critics have commented it is "truly MusicArt." His Art has been accepted worldwide. His fans Love his genuine style and approach to Music & Art.

James is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He served as first president and founding governor of the Northwest Chapter of NARAS. He is also a member of MENC, and IAJE.James plays exclusively Kanstul® Flugelhorn and Monette® Mouthpiece's.
