Sailor, boat builder, writer, publisher, musician. Next to music, sailing has filled JA Rogers' life from an early age. He first studied piano with his mother, then later took up the clarinet, tenor sax and guitar. Studying under Nicolas Slonimsky, Clarence Sawhill and others, Rogers earned a degree in music from the University of California Los Angeles where he also studied composition privately with Roy Harris and with Kelly James. Besides his devotion to music, Rogers has logged thousands of miles of voyaging under sail and written many books and articles about his experiences.
