Album Notes

Rare is the artist who combines brilliant songwriting with exquisite guitar rhythms and undeniably moving vocals. Born March 26,1981 in San Diego, Jamie Jenkins is an extraordinary talent and has been writing and singing for as long as she can remember. San Diego fans could hear her play regularly at places like Twiggs' and LeStat's, prior to her move to the San Francisco Bay Area approximately two years ago. Since her arrival, Jamie's been performing in area clubs and cafes where she continuously captivates her audience with a most powerful and passionate performance.

Though Jamie's style is truly her own, her musical intensity and integrity has been compared to the likes of Ani DiFranco and Tracy Chapman. Jamie is featured on the "Starry Plough Best of Berkeley" compilation CD and has recently released her first solo CD "Fool's Disguise".

Jamie has so much soul in her voice. Personal favorite is Into a song--that guitar riff totally captures me!

The Voice, the Delivery, and the Heart

While searching through a sea of mediocrity, through a million voices, through endless hackneyed rhymes and rhythms, you occasionally find a true gem. Fool’s Disguise runs the gamut from political to issues of the heart. Some musicians sing about themselves in hopes that you will view them as such. Few can convince you that they are truly finding themselves as they write their songs. Jamie Jenkins is a glowing example of this art of self. Several artist comparisons quickly come to mind, but they fade just as fast, and you are left with an original and totally captivating experience. Aside from enlightened storytelling, she has an excellent voice, and an uncanny sense of when to hit the upper registers. I have no idea as to why major labels don’t troll this site looking for new talent, and why they haven’t snatched her up yet. Or maybe Miss Jenkins has had other plans all along. Either way all we have to listen to is this one glorious album. I can’t recommend this album enough, so just see for yourself. I humbly await the second album.
