Album Notes

PRODUCT INFO - Jamie Stevens
THE WIZARD\'S CALL - May 2001

He started his career in 1995 working with Germany\'s top-notch producers Irmgard Klarmann (Chaka Khan, Lory Bianco, Jennifer Rush) and Felix Weber (Randy Crawford, LaToya Jackson) who also wrote five songs on Jamie\'s debut album. Later he teamed up with LA-based songwriter Terry Lupton (The Party, Apollonia) and performed in many local TV shows throughout Germany.

Finishing his debut album \"The Wizard\'s Call\" has been Stevens\' most rewarding project so far. From 1997 - 2001 he collaborated with songwriters from Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada and New York. He has created a melodic and bouncy set of 14 pop tracks, from beautiful love ballads to high energy pop songs.

All 14 tracks on his debut album truly showcase Stevens\' biggest talent, namely writing inspiring and uplifting lyrics that can take you higher at any time. \"I Try To Fight\" which ranks among Stevens\' greatest, is one of his quintessential songs that summarize his philosophy of life. There is a certain degree of sentimentality on THE WIZARD\'S CALL, but it never turns drippy such as his critically acclaimed song \"Only Love (will make you wise)\" proves, which has already been a No 1 hit on MP3.com!

The most successful song from his debut album is certainly \"BACK OFF,\" a song that he co-wrote with one of Canada\'s top-songwriters Rodney Ronquillo. This song was a TOP 10 hit on MP3.com and scored #1 on the Canadian BeSonic Pop Charts.

Respect! Respect! Respect!

Respect. The most coveted and hardest thing to achieve in show business. After hearing some of Jamie’s music on the internet, I knew I just HAD to get this CD. This album is – by far - one of the most exciting CDs I have. Everything is right about this disc; the songs are strong and memorable, the lyrics are inspiring and uplifting and Jamie’s voice is truly amazing. Just like it is stated on the CD cover, “The Wizard’s Call” us a musical journey about love, dreams, friendship, illusions and rejection. My favorite song is “I Try To Fight,” a ballad about the endeavoring struggle of people who have done nothing but criticized him. After all there is one hour of really good music on this album and I am really looking forward to Jamie’s second release. PS: The CD cover looks really good too!

“A musical journey about love, dreams, friendship, illusions, and rejection”
author: Carman
Tired of music that all sounds the same? Looking for a versatile album, one with a song to fit every mood? You’ve hit the jackpot when you pick up Jamie Stevens’ debut album, The Wizard’s Call. Described on the cover as “A musical journey about love, dreams, friendship, illusions, and rejection”, this collection of audio candy lives up to every expectation you might have as well as every promise it makes. Listening to these songs is like taking a roller coaster ride through the pleasure and pain of life. From the hard hitting “Back Off” to the fun, frivolity of “Let Yourself Go”, this is a CD that never needs to be discarded from your stereo for something to fit your current state. The vocals might surprise you. Strong and articulate at times, soft and carefree at others, Jamie Stevens’ voice leaves you with no doubt that this is one pop singer who really does know how to sing. Every word sounds heartfelt and genuine. Considering that nine of the fourteen tracks were written or co-written by Stevens’, it is no shock that the lyrics come off as being sincere. So what about the other five songs? With the prowess of an experienced professional, this artist takes someone else’s expression of feeling and makes it his own. You’ll be hard pressed to figure out which tracks were pinned by the singer and which weren’t. This can be attributed to talent, having a knack for picking out songs that fit his own style, or both of these factors. The song “I Try To Fight” will sell itself as a theme song for everyone who has ever struggled to make their dreams come true, and is one of the high points of the album. There are dance-y tracks, tender ballads, and wonderfully beat driven love songs to bring the collection full circle. Whatever faults the album might have, it makes up for one-hundred times over. If you like one song, you’re going to find yourself liking them all. So, pick up the album and you’re almost guaranteed to find something to love.
