Album Notes

Jamie Willard’s 30 plus years of playing guitar has evolved into a rendition of beauty and grace. “Intricately detailed, a pleasure not only to listen to but to see”. At a recent workshop, Jamie had an opportunity to play for fingerstyle guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel, upon hearing Jamie play he said, “That’s brilliant” and praised Jamie as a gifted guitarist with a wonderful sense of melody. Jamie’s artistry ranges from Classical to Jazz to Country & Rock, each with its own passion and raw sophistication along with Jamie’s own style and wit. Jamie had the good fortune of tremendous teachers throughout his career. A graduate of the Flip Hayes School of Guitar, Jamie also was fortunate enough to study with classical master Paul Sweeny. Jamie’s playing has taken him across the USA and as far as Europe where he performed for receptive audiences. Closer to home Jamie has done both session guitar work and live performances for countless artists and groups. Jamie has open up for such artists as Diamond Rio, Toby Keith, Martina McBride and a host of others. These days Jamie is immersed in the world of fingerstyle guitar, but still has plenty time for his group Symple Measures. Jamie's composition, technique and passion are some of the most beautiful, detailed and just plain fun guitar music you may ever hear.

Jamie's work is a musical blessing. Each song is so unique and crafted with amazing talent and depth. It is hard to fully appreciate his work by hearing it just once ("The Prodigal Son" is a perfect example). The songs on this album are like paintings and Jamie is an artist who creates masterpieces with his guitar. It is hard not to get lost in his soul soothing music. What a wonderful discovery! Thank you Jamie-

I didn't think 40 could be improved upon, but Jamie has done just that. Excelsis Deo is a stunning compolation of musical stories, welded, melded and threaded together to give one absolutely enchanting and thrilling whole. Jamie's music dips and soars, taking the listener on a breathless ride of discovery. This CD sent me on a carnival ride of emotions that you can only experience by listening to and appreciating Jamie's skill . I love it,as will any Jamie fan and any person who appreciates top quality art and music. Thanks again,Jamie Willard! :))
