Album Notes

Jami Lula

A singer with a gift and a blessing. A voice that will inspire your Soul to open and expand. A songwriter who makes you feel like he's been reading your journal. A performer who will enchant you, uplift you, & take you on a roller coaster ride. The musical experience will move your body, your heart, your Spirit, and your mind. Take a chance, take the journey.

Jami Lula is not what he appears to be, not what he thought he was, and never what you'd expect. Don't be fooled by his large stature and unusual style. The new recording is being called a journey from the question of "What's it all about" to the great "I AM".

Once you've heard the new CD "Something's Calling Me" it will leave an indelible mark on your Soul and you'll want to tell your friends, family, and even strangers about this musical experience.

In 1987, Detroit native Jami Lula moved to Los Angeles to perfect his musical craft by attending the Musicians Institute(MI) in Southern California. His intense studies lead to his receiving the school's outstanding vocalist award in 1988. Six months after graduation, Jami joined the staff of MI where he still continues teaching voice, songwriting, stage movement, creativity workshops and performance. As a soloist or with his band, Jami has been musically supporting a number of charitable organizations including the Special Olympics, AA, Project Angel Food, and Hope for Abused Women Foundation. His contribution as a featured soloist with the choir group TAG through the Agape International Center of Truth serves as an extension of Jami's commitment to inspiration through music.

Jami Lula was the leader of the band "Lula" for 10 years, releasing 2 records, "Waiting" and "Live Groove" on Circle Up Records. Praise around the bands success was highlighted by the LA Music Awards nominating Jami as Best Vocalist of the year in 1996&97; he accepted the award in 1997. Rave reviews around Lula's live performances have come from the LA Times, The Album Network & Whole Life Times. Jami's vocal performance has been coined as "gospel-like vocals and Southern evangelist-styled mannerism that makes him a compelling and powerful presence on stage"; his lyrics truly contain a grain of optimism and inner-strength that have carried many people through the hardest of times. While interviewing with Pasadena Weekly reporter Bliss, Jami remarks, "We're here to be of service through music, to uplift and make people think about our surroundings.....there is a lot of passion and soulfulness present in this music which many people definitely want to hear today." Jami Lula's music has been featured in the film "Student Body", on TV's The Jeff Foxworthy Show, showcased at EATM and on both AOR and AAA radio stations.

Jami Lula's new solo CD entitled, "Something's Calling Me" is a journey of the Soul that speaks to the deeper calling of the human race to embrace one another and recognize 'Oneness' beyond what our eyes can see or hear. Whole Life Times reviews his performance as, "...when Jami Lula sings you will be aware that he becomes the music, the sound, the energy..."; his words & music spreads a powerful message of love and positive intention.

Look at what the Press is saying about Jami Lula

"Jami Lula's Gospel-like voice and Southern evangelist-styled mannerisms make him a compelling and powerful presence.....he has great command of the audience and his extremely well-trained voice makes him one of the best you will hear in town." - (Amy DeZellar, Music Connection Magazine)

"Jami becomes the music, the sound, the feel, the words, the intention. His multi-range voice is full of texture and intricacies that defy words." - (Music review section, Whole Life Times)

"It's refreshing when a musician talks about taking his place in the spotlight so he can make good things happen for others. Lula's inspiring recurring theme in his lyrics stresses the pressure of time and of needing to make your mark on the world.....Jami's voice is a powerful, supple instrument that's generated a substantial buzz." - (Bliss, Pasadena Weekly)

"Smartly crafted tunes combined with the evangelically soaring vocals, goosebump-raising voice of Jami Lula makes Lula a performer with charisma." - (Michael Stein, The Outlook)
