Album Notes

Native Virginian Janie Barnett is a veteran singer-songwriter, New York session singer and producer of contemporary pop/folk artists. She has created an eclectic career for herself writing, performing, and producing in the areas of pop, folk, and for various indie films. Her credits run from a John Sayles film to performance at the legendary Passim, to commercials for numerous national commercials including Chevrolet, Sprite, American Airlines, to name a few, a cut on the network show "Providence," to back-up for numerous artists, among them Rickie Lee Jones, Linda Rondstadt, David Johannson, and Celine Dion. Her music and production have been called eclectic, cinematic, and "like jewels across a shimmering sea." "Belong" is her third artist release. It's a mood piece of sorts and here are the moods it might put you in: If you were reading you might choose Baudelaire or then again Brigitte Jones' Diary. If you were watching a film you might choose Diner or maybe Bull Durham. If you were renting old tv it might be the Dick Van Dyke Show...or Northern Exposure. If you were eating, it could be pie. Lemon or Key Lime.
