Alone Together [single]

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
With catchy hooks, bouncy beats, and sweet vocal harmonies, Toronto four-piece Jane's Party combine the spirit of the old with new-age "pop & roll". The band's 2009 debut album "The Garage Sessions", dubbed the group the folk-pop darlings of Toronto, drawing comparisons to bands such as The Skydiggers, Joel Plaskett and Wilco. In support of the Garage Sessions, the band played nearly 100 shows across the country, including some of Canada's most revered festivals and venues.

The time spent playing on the road and in clubs developed the band's infectious stage presence, split three ways between Jeff Giles (vocals, keys, guitar, bass), Devon Richardson (vocals, bass, keys) and Tom Ionescu (vocals, guitar), all backed up by Zach Sutton on the drums. Throughout a routine set, the band casually shifts between fast-tempo foot stompers, Beatles-esque 6/8 ballads, and "undoubtedly 120 bpm" bouncy grooves, each tune showcasing a different lead voice, backed up by the other two with the kind of oohs and doos you loved on Pet Sounds.

Since their upstart in 2008, Jane's Party have found themselves sharing bills with acts such as You Say Party! We Say Die!, Zeus, By Divine Right, Steve Poltz and many more. As of fall 2010, the group has released a new single entitled "Alone Together", showcasing the band's venture into new musical territory. The two-track single sheds the folk/roots coat to unveil a sound reminiscent of a post-Beatles McCartney, with a tip of the hat to the likes of The Strokes, Phoenix and Sloan. Jane's Party are looking to 2011 with eager eyes, preparing for a series of shows to present the brand new catalogue, which will ultimately lead up to an EP release sometime in the New Year.
