Born and raised in Hackney, London and of Nigerian parentage, Janet Gabriel is a force that is reckoned within the soul/cross-over pop world as a seasoned singer/songwriter. Her voice is soulful and ripe with emotion whilst remaining versatile.

Janet has spent years perfecting her act by collaborating with various producers doing backing vocals and songwriting for other artists both in the UK and abroad and performing with different bands over the years.

Her influences have included the great Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Whitney Houston, Anita Baker and Toni Braxton. She then returned to England and proceeded to experiment more with her songwriting and vocal technique, which brought more session work, and allowed her to work with many producers who all feature majorly in her debut album, "The Fire Within".The result of these collaborations is music that combines R&B, Soul, Pop and Funk.


Janet says, "This is a very exciting project for me that has been a long time in the making and it's just the beginning. It's very personal to me and to those who have been supporting me over the years by coming to my gigs and making them memorable. Now's the time to get out there and take it further. I guess my main message, one that really drives me, will be, you're never too young or to old to show what you've got. No one else can do it for you. Keep it real and have fun while you're doing it!"
