Equine hearing is closely related to human hearing, though their capacity to hear higher frequencies is greater. The loud crack of a lightening bolt and the rumbling of thunder is especially unsettling to horses. A horse’s acute hearing as well as their sensitivity to atmospheric changes, often triggers behaviors of agitation and stress.
Engine noise and vibrations of the trailer, while transporting your horse are very potent to some horse’s ears. Play this music at a louder volume than you would in the barn to mask some of these sounds. Your horse will associate the calm music to aid in the transition from the barn to the trailer.
For horses that are confined to their stalls following surgery or injury, Pet Acoustics music can be used to help minimize abrupt movements and provide a calm atmosphere during the healing process.
