"I have to admit, when I first heard Jan play, I was intimidated. Her technique was impressive, and her understanding of the music she played remarkable. But her down to earth manner soon put me at ease, and this recording session proved to be one of the more enjoyable I can remember. We recorded these numbers in her music room; I am normally loathe to leave my basement studio, but I was glad I had as soon as she began warming up. I could tell right then that it would prove to be time and effort well spent. And indeed it was; this album captures the essence of Jan's artistry and makes it available to all.
"Jan doesn't perform a lot - she seems more content to invest her time and energy in expanding her repertoire and continuing her musical education. She still takes lessons, and has to drive a considerable distance from her quiet Sandhills home to meet with a suitable instructor. But her discipline and dedication have made this CD the musical treasure it is."
