Album Notes

When you conjure up thoughts of the perfect pianist, you must be thinking of Janice. She is versatile, just as comfortable playing solo as she is working with a big band. She is the consummate professional, in demand among instrumentalists and vocalists alike. She is experienced, with a long list of achievements including appearances in every State of the Union and practically all around the World. She is gifted, making compelling music in any style from traditional to modern and she is well loved by the many musicians that call her a friend.
Janice earned a degree with distinction at the music school of Indiana University and has made her living playing piano ever since. She has performed in many Jazz festivals in both the USA and Europe. After one of her festival performances, NY Times Jazz Critic, John Wilson, hailed her playing as the highlight of the program. He wrote that her “explosive … piano playing carries the aura and variety of a big band.”
The people that Janice has played with reads like a Who’s Who of the Jazz World. A few examples include: being a guest on Marian McPartland’s radio broadcast, “Piano Jazz”, recording with the likes of Milt Hinton and Claudio Roditi and touring with the Woody Herman Orchestra.
Janice has played in many famous concert halls and notable clubs from Carnegie Hall and the JFK Arts Center to the Blue Note and Iridium. In the past 6 months alone, she has performed at Dizzy’s Jazz Club, Sweet Rhythm and Enzo’s in New York City and has wowed audiences from Japan to New Jersey and from Italy to Florida.
She continues to perform with an ever growing list of musicians and singers.

Janice Friedman's song EASY is worth the price of this CD. She has a vocal version on her newer CD called something Swingin... I believe that this is her own song. I can not listen to it enough. If a song were to be banned for being too addictive, this is the song. I love the whole album, but I find myself just listening to EASY over and over again. I'm hooked!!!
