Album Notes

Born and raised on (and in) the Chesapeake Bay, Janie Meneely sings about the Bay and its people, sharing a deep-rooted love for the environment as well as the history of the Bay region. She captures in song the swiftly vanishing way of life of the people who traditionally made a living from the water, and she celebrates the boating community that calls the Bay home. The songs she writes are deliberate: She went looking for traditional music of the Bay watermen but came up virtually empty handed. Undaunted, she writes "tomorrow's traditions today," capturing what some have called musical snapshots of the people, places and stories that make the Chesapeake unique.
