Album Notes

Calico Jack is the duo of Janie Meneely and Paul DiBlasi. You Don't Know Jack is their second album together and marks a departure from their usual Chesapeake Bay-flavored fare. It includes a baker's dozen songs about pirates, nefarious mermaids, wayward sailors and life on the high seas in general. With the exception of Bonny Ship the Diamond (traditional) and Horizons (by Bob Zentz) all were composed by Janie Meneely. Seattle-based musicians William Pint and Felicia Dale produced the album and lend their vocal and instrumental support. For complete liner notes go to www.janiemeneely.com. (Parents beware: We have rated this album PG. There are some amusingly naughty bits; go to our website to read the lyrics.)

Good Songs

Janie writes good songs--some funny, some not. "Brigantine" is excellent, as is "Anne Bonney". Her other songs that I've heard--both on this CD and from her friends Pint and Dale--are also very good. Nice recording to have, this.
