A solid album and with the wonderful Song “I miss you” also still very valuable. The typical ear worm. The Song does not get out of my head. Janita belongs from now on to my absolute favorites.

A Stunning Success!
author: Smoothjazz.com Review
I'm sure I'm not the first music industry person to say this upon hearing SEASONS OF LIFE; Janita is presently poised to be the next big thing in pop/soul/jazz in the same camp as Sade, Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, India.Arie and Norah Jones. This beautiful star from Finland just may very well be the next American idol… I’m confident that Simon Cowell would agree. Now residing in New York City, Janita had multiple radio hits, received two Finnish Grammy Awards, and graced the cover of numerous magazine covers in Finland all by the age of 17. Not one to rest on her laurels (and she has many), this talented artist moved to the U.S. to expand her horizons and released I’LL BE FINE in 2001. That’s when we first met Janita. It’s hard to imagine that it took some 5 years before a recording label stumbled upon her incredible potential. The lucky folks at Lightyear have provided Janita with a musical home base. In fact, Arnie Holland, the president of the label, signed Janita in 2005 after seeing her live at the legendary Bitter End on Bleeker Street in NYC. Funny thing is, Janita had been a bartender at the club some years prior. SEASONS OF LIFE is a stunning success… Soulful and sensual through and through. With the new single, “Enjoy The Silence,” a riveting cover of the Depeche Mode hit, along with 10 more stellar songs on the CD, including my favorite, “More Than Fantasy,” this is indeed the season of Janita! CD available in May 2006. ~ SANDY SHORE

JANITA: SEASONS OF LIFE
author: Jed Ryan, PM Entertainment Magazine
JANITA: SEASONS OF LIFE With her striking looks and awe-inspiring musical talents, singer/songwriter Janita is poised to conquer America in a big way with her new album "Seasons of Life". Janita was already an established star in her native Finland long before she received worldwide attention with her 2001 album "I'll Be Fine". At the age of 15, she was voted "the most sensual woman in Finland" by the readers of one of the largest-circulated weekly magazines in that country. By 17, the singer already had multiple hits, received two Finnish Grammy Awards, toured nationally, and was on the covers of numerous magazines. Like so many young artists on the scene today, Janita refuses to classify her music into one particular genre. Indeed, "Seasons of Life" is a blend of R&B, jazz, and radio-friendly pop, with a healthy dose of world music thrown in. Specifically, on tracks like "I Miss You" and "More than Fantasy", the world which Janita gives us a taste of is definitely south of the Tropic of Cancer. On many tracks throughout "Seasons of Life", this artist shows great affection for-- and pays great respect to-- the essentials of American jazz music: smooth grooves, cool yet soulful delivery, and, of course, a focus on L-O-V-E. The genre may have deep roots, but Janita's yearning, occasionally breathy voice and dynamic persona create a new style of jazz-pop, certainly the perfect libation for a new generation of jazz aficionados. Her performances of "That's How Life Goes", "Bear With Me", and the bluesy, heavy-on-the-drama "I Only Want You", for example, evoke not the world-weariness of a more, shall we say, "mature" diva that one might envision performing at a smoky jazz club. Rather, Janita exhibits an idealism, youthfulness, and verve more that likens her more closely to her female peers on the pop charts today. The more sophisticated fields of pop music, I might add. "No Words", the album's first track, wastes no time in giving us a taste of the many facets of Janita's style and vocal range. The listener is swept in by her voice and seduced by the gently stimulating musical hooks, and the result is soothing and ethereal. Yet Janita also impresses the listener with some diva-esque flexing of her vocal muscles as she belts "I don't need no words (because I understand)..." towards the end of the song. She hits some stunning high notes. The next track, "Miss You", with its smart lyrics ("So many things I didn't tell you, So many things you should have known; If you ask me why I kept it in, I swear I don't know... Now I miss you."), continues the flow. Set to an ambient, tropical-flavored melody, she again breaks the intoxicating tone of the song with some powerful notes and catchy vocal bridges. The somber "That's How Life Goes" is deep, but never melancholy. "Let Me Love You" ("I'm falling deeper; I'm drowning, I'm drowning in my feeling for you. I'm falling deeper; I'm drowning, I need you to save me...") is another of the album's highlights, as is Janita's reworking of "Enjoy the Silence", originally a hit song for British electro-pop group Depeche Mode in 1990. The well-chosen song may be a remake, but Janita makes "Enjoy the Silence" completely her own, replacing David Gahan's characteristically steely, distant vocal style with a lush melody and slow, simmering expression. Like Brazilian singer Astrud Gilberto, one of Janita's influences (and another performer who knew how to expertly infuse a warm breeze through her songs), Janita often employs a straightforward (Some critics may say "deadpan") delivery of her tracks, even when she's singing mirthful lyrics like "And may you live a long and beautiful life, with noisy kids and an ugly wife..." on "I Only Want You". Given her fondness for jazz and sophisticated R&B, cool restraint is most likely her intent. But it makes this listener wonder about when Janita's fans will hear her illuminating vox in its completely uninhibited form. The effect would, no doubt, be explosive. Of course, Janita may just be saving that explosion for a future album... Janita saves the title track of "Seasons of Life" for last. This grand finale showcases Janita's voice at it most sensual and intricate, and the resulting song is stunningly beautiful, with superb musical nuances throughout and inspiring lyrics ("The sun is on its way... back into my sky. The sun will shine on me... finally..."). With her own seemingly innate vocal talents, and with the expert musicians that she has surrounded herself with, I'll be at the risk of sounding obvious by saying that Janita has indeed created an album for all "seasons of life"-- particularly life's matters of the heart.
